While we increasingly understand the importance of mental health today, some topics still remain taboo. There is still too little talk about digestion, the intestines and the daily signals of our own body, although this is where perhaps much more than we think begins.
The discovery of the gut microbiome has changed the way we understand health. What is increasingly referred to as the organ of the 21st century is now the focus of science, but also of wider society, because we know that it affects overall health, from immunity and metabolism to mental well-being. Our immunity is strongly linked to the health of the microbiome, and metabolism is affected daily by the billions of bacteria that make up that invisible ecosystem within us.
This conversation opens the space for a frank and open discussion of gut health, the factors that shape the microbiome, but also the myths and misconceptions that often accompany it. Through multidisciplinary dialogue, we explore how we can influence this internal ecosystem and how we can improve overall health by caring for gut health. “Listen to your gut” becomes more than a metaphor. It becomes a call for conscious, often small changes that can have a big impact on the quality of life.
